Joony HotelsProduct overview
Front desk and housekeeping checklist

A daily front desk and housekeeping checklist that protects the guest journey.

The front desk promises the room; housekeeping makes it ready. This checklist helps both teams work from the same priorities before arrivals, through the active stay and after departure—without relying on scattered messages or memory.

One operational picture

Check the handoffs that decide whether a room is truly ready.

Use the list as an operating baseline, then assign ownership and timing around the way your property actually works. Joony Hotels can keep the reservation, room, guest and housekeeping context together as each status changes.

Before the first arrivals

Review expected arrivals and departures, early-arrival requests, extensions, room assignments, unresolved repairs and rooms still waiting for inspection. Flag priority rooms and agree who owns each exception before guests reach reception.

Room-ready verification

Do not treat “cleaning completed” and “ready to assign” as the same event unless that is the hotel’s agreed process. Confirm the room status, inspection requirement, reported defects and any guest-specific preparation before the desk checks a guest in.

Check-in handoff

Verify the reservation, assigned room, guest details and supported stay documents. If a room is changed, preserve the reason and update the operating record so housekeeping, reception and management are not working from the previous assignment.

During-stay changes

Record room moves, extensions, repairs and relevant guest requests against the stay or room context. Confirm who must act, what status should change and how the front desk will know the work is complete.

Departure and room release

Complete checkout and supported folio steps, confirm the guest has departed, then return the room to the housekeeping cycle. Prioritise the room according to the next arrival rather than cleaning every departure in an arbitrary order.

End-of-day review

Reconcile rooms that remain occupied, vacant, awaiting cleaning, ready or blocked. Review unresolved repairs, tomorrow’s early arrivals and any mismatch between reception and housekeeping before the next shift inherits the property.

Daily operating rhythm

Move the work forward with shared context.

01 · PRE-SHIFT

Set one shared priority list

The desk and housekeeping lead review arrivals, departures, room readiness and exceptions before work begins.

02 · THROUGH THE DAY

Update status at the handoff

Record the change when a room, stay or repair moves forward so the next team acts on current information.

03 · SHIFT CLOSE

Resolve or deliberately carry forward

Close completed work, assign unresolved issues and prepare the next shift for early arrivals and blocked rooms.

Questions

Understanding the system.

Who should own the room-ready decision?

The hotel should define whether housekeeping, an inspector or the front desk gives final approval. The important control is one understood status, one owner and a visible handoff before assignment.

How often should front desk and housekeeping reconcile room status?

At minimum, reconcile before the main arrival period and at shift close. Busy properties may also use short scheduled checks during the day, supported by status updates when work is completed.

What should happen when a room has a repair issue?

Record the issue against the room, decide whether the room can remain assignable, name the person responsible and make the resulting status visible to reception before a guest is checked in.
